Meet Sierra Elizabeth, Nasty Woman, Founder & CEO of SuitKits, a groundbreaking online shopping service that allows women to custom design suits and suit separates according to their exact measurements, preferred style, color, and cut.

Sierra received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Michigan where she was an All-American in basketball and track.  She also received her Law degree Cum Laude from Duke University School of Law and her Master’s degree in Psychology from Duke University Graduate School.

Following a successful career as a trial lawyer with an impressive record of winning 100% of her cases, Sierra decided to take a bold and unexpected leap into the fashion world. Long frustrated with the issue of finding business suits to complement her athletic body type and fashion-forward personal style, Sierra set out to learn everything she could about manufacturing suits – for every body type. What makes you a Nasty Woman?

I am a Nasty Woman because every day I get more and more comfortable with the woman that I am, imperfections and all.

Share an experience that shaped your views or helped get you involved in activism.

The latest experience that has shaped my views/helped me get involved in activism was the election of President Trump. As I sat there in shock, my dad told me something like: Unfortunately, I've raised you in a bubble. You don't quite realize that there are many people in the world that don't like you because you are black, woman, independent, out-spoken, etc. even though I've told you this. But are you going to just sit here, and sulk? Or are you going to do something about it? Months later, I founded my company SuitKits and made it my mission to help young underprivileged future female attorneys.

What advice do you have for people who want to help enact change and push progress but don’t know how to get involved?

The advice I would give is to start. It's the hardest part but talk is cheap.

If you could look into the future, 10 years from now, and see that real progress has been made, what does that look like to you?

Real progress looks like a female President :)

Share with us a favorite wine moment, memory or pairing.

My favorite glass of wine was in an airport hotel in Chicago probably 10 years ago and I don't know anything about it other than it was a Cab from Washington - and now that's all I look for on restaurant menus. One day I'll find it again!!

Tell us more about SuitKits.

SuitKits is a website that allows women of all shapes and sizes to create customized suits and separates that fit their body, their job, and their style in 10 minutes or less!

Ten years ago, as I found myself interviewing at the most prestigious law firms in the country—in the most uncomfortable suit—I couldn’t help but feel insecure. Wearing a suit that didn’t fit or flatter, reinforced my greatest fear: I am an imposter. I don’t belong.

Even after being promoted to partner, my suits still failed to reflect the confident woman I had become and held me back from representing the fearless, unique individual that I strived to be. So, instead of waiting another ten years for something to change, I created SuitKits by Sierra E.

Sierra is the Nasty Woman featured on our Special Limited Bottling Cabernet Sauvignon.
